Darvon and Darvocet Recalled Due to Serious Side Effects
The FDA has pulled the prescription painkillers Darvon and Darvocet off the U.S. market because of new evidence of heart problems and even fatal cardiac abnormalities. Darvon and Darvocet, manufactured by Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals Inc., combine Darvon with Acetaminophen and are widely used for pain relief.
Darvon and Darvocet have been banned in Great Britain since 2005
Propoxyphene-containing drugs like Darvon and Darvocet have been banned in Great Britain since 2005. The FDA called upon the pharmaceutical companies to stop making Propoxyphene (PPX) based upon a clinical trial in which electrocardiograms demonstrated that the drug altered the heart's electrical activity, causing serious heart problems that could lead to permanent heart damage and death. The Public Citizen's Health Research Group estimated that 1,000 to 2,000 Americans have died from the drug since the U.K. ban in 2005, based in part upon data from the state of Florida that found 395 wrongful deaths from 2005 to 2009 associated with Propoxyphene.
According to the FDA, over 10 million Americans took a prescription containing Propoxyphene for mild to moderate pain in 2009. Darvon, developed by Eli Lilly and Co., received FDA approval in 1957 and has been a controlled drug since 1976.

These are not cases of medical malpractice; these cases are product liability cases where we sue the big companies that chose profits over patient safety. As with all cases, there is a time limit which you will be entitled to compensation, so it is in your best interest to call us immediately for a free evaluation of your Darvocet or Darvon lawsuit.
